This term the children have explored the Amazon, locating the area on a map and using the zoom tools on Google Maps to explore, in greater depth, the geographical features of the area. The children have studied the flora and fauna of the rainforest and learnt how the animals and plants have adapted to survive in this environment. As part of our project, the children enjoyed a visit from ZooLab who bought with them various creatures who could be found hidden amongst in the canopy or on the forest floor; some were more popular than others! Using their knowledge, the children created their own ‘Rainforests in a Box’ which they produced collaboratively; great team work and cooperation were essential.
